Valve Conditions
What Is Tricuspid Valve Insufficiency?

Tricuspid regurgitation occurs when the tricuspid valve does not close properly and blood flows backward into the right atrium.
Significant tricuspid regurgitation may cause:
- Leg swelling
- Abdominal swelling
- Fatigue
- Shortness of breath
- Reduced exercise tolerance
Treatment depends on the underlying cause and severity and may include medical management, surgical treatment, or transcatheter therapies in selected patients.
