BIOGRAPHY

Dr. Alptekin Özkoç

I was born and raised in Famagusta, Northern Cyprus, where I completed my primary, secondary, and high school education.

In 2005, I began my medical studies at Maltepe University School of Medicine in Istanbul and graduated in 2011.

Following medical school, I moved to Germany to pursue specialist training in internal medicine and cardiology. During my training, I worked at two internationally recognized cardiovascular centers:

  • Herz Zentrum St. Johannes Krankenhaus, Dortmund
  • Herzzentrum Klinikum Karlsburg

These institutions provided me with extensive experience in internal medicine and advanced cardiovascular medicine, with particular emphasis on interventional cardiology, electrophysiology, structural heart disease, and cardiac device therapy.

In 2018, after successfully completing the six-year specialist training program and passing the required examinations, I was certified as a Specialist in Internal Medicine and Cardiology by the Medical Chamber of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Germany.

Throughout my training and professional career in Germany, I completed advanced training in:

  • Interventional cardiology
  • Coronary angiography and percutaneous coronary intervention
  • Electrophysiological studies and catheter ablation
  • Atrial fibrillation ablation
  • Pacemaker and ICD implantation
  • Cardiac resynchronization therapy
  • Physiological pacing techniques
  • Transcatheter aortic valve implantation (TAVI)
  • Transcatheter mitral valve repair
  • Transcatheter tricuspid valve therapies

Later in 2018, I returned to Northern Cyprus, where I have continued to practice cardiology.

My approach to cardiovascular care combines modern medical technology, evidence-based decision-making, individualized treatment, and clear communication.

I aim to provide patients with an accurate diagnosis, explain available treatment options clearly, and develop a treatment strategy based on their individual cardiovascular condition, risks, and goals.
